This month, we're excited to host our annual Fly Cast Shoot Out. This year we will also hold a separate special casting clinic for anyone who wants to learn, improve, or just give it a try! Whether you're competing or simply interested in learning how to cast, both events are designed to be relaxed, fun, and packed with helpful tips.
It's a great opportunity to sharpen your skills, meet fellow members, and enjoy an afternoon together. Don't miss this month's updates below and we hope to see you at the May meetup!

JSTU's Impact in April - Thank You!
The below is what we accomplished in April and Early May. Something to be proud of and what makes this group special to be a part of. Thank you to the event leaders and all of our volunteers!
-Toms River Cleanup: 15+ volunteers and 160 pounds of trash collected. -Farmington River Fishing Trip: 5 different species of fish caught and a great time for everyone who attended. -April Meetup: Great presentation from Richard Liptak and raffled off 2 Orvis Clearwater combos. -Youth Fly Fishing Clinic: 80 attendees and participants total. -Youth Fishing Day: 133 attendees and participants total.

Trout Fest 2026 - Fly Tying Festival - May 16th (12:00 - 4:00 pm) -South Branch Outfitters is hosting their annual Trout Fest. Please click here for additional information. A great opportunity to support SBO as they have always been very kind to our members.
Catskills Charmed Circle Fly Classic - June 6 & 7th 2026 -Our group will be participating in the Catskills Charmed Circle Fly Classic to enjoy some fishing and support conservation. Please click here for more information on the event.
JSTU June Meetup - Beach Haus Brewing and Trivia Night - June 16th
-Our June Meetup will be at Beach Haus Brewing in Belmar with a trivia night. This will be a great night you won't want to miss out on!
Fly Fisherman of the Year Contest 2026:
Remember to submit your New Jersey catches to our google form, tag us with pictures on your social media accounts, or submit them at the JSTU monthly meetups. Enter your fishy pictures to win a chance to represent JSTU at the New Jersey Fly Fisherman of the Year Contest at Shannon's private waters on the South Branch of the Raritan River AND a lightly used freshwater combo!
