Jersey Shore TU's December Meeting (12/17) - Holiday Party and Fly Tying

Jersey Shore TU Members & Friends,

Join us for our Jersey Shore TU’s November Meeting (12/17) where we will be having our holiday party. The chapter will have pizza and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. Fellow member Jeff Cole will be leading fly tying at 6:30 before the meeting. The chapter will provide all materials in order to tie if you are interested. We hope to see you all at the usual meeting location below!

TU National News:

The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Good Samaritan Remediation of Abandoned Hardrock Mines Legislation, which is expected to be signed into law by President Biden.

The impacts of abandoned mine drainage are staggering, with 40% of headwaters in the West and 22,000 miles of native trout and salmon streams impacted. This legislation marks a historic moment in changing that, allowing organizations like TroutUnlimited that had nothing to do with the creation of pollution caused by abandoned mines-to clean up these sites, making our rivers and streams cleaner for the fish, wildlife and communities that depend on them.  

To those of you who advocated time and time again to help make this historic moment possible: Thank you.

Net Drawing:

We will be running a drawing for a handcrafted wooden fly fishing net made by our very own President, Bob Sodon. Come by to the monthly meetings to get your name in for this awesome net that will be drawn during the June meeting.
